Policy on cookies and similar technologies
This is placeholder text, not legal advice. Replace it in Admin → Pages, and make sure it describes the cookies this site actually sets.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep. On the next visit the browser hands it back, which is how a site can tell it is you and not a stranger.
2. What we use them for
- Staying signed in — so you do not have to log in on every page.
- Remembering your choices — your location, and whether you have already read the chat safety tips.
- Keeping the site upright — spotting errors and abuse.
3. Cookies from other companies
Some pages load things from other companies — maps, payments, sign-in — and those companies may set their own cookies. Their policies govern those, not this one.
4. Turning them off
Every browser can block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking them is your right; signing in will stop working, because staying signed in is a cookie.
5. Changes
If we start using a cookie for something new, this page changes first.
